W3 How to disable PXE Boot?

I have an Asus USB hub that has a built-in ethernet port.  The W3 automatically tries to PXE boot when the hub is attached or if I attach a USB to ethernet adapter.  Is there any way to turn PXE boot off on the W3?  I have not seen anything in the BIOS and PXE is not listed in the Boot priority order.

The W3 will finally boot to the Windows Boot Manager after trying to PXE boot with IP4 and IP6, but it takes about 5 minutes for the PXE boot to go through its process.

Thanks,

  Jordi

You should be able to go into the BIOS setup and change the boot order so that the local hard disk is first. If you ever need to boot from something else you also need to enable the F12 boot selection.

Thanks for the feedback Padgett, but the BIOS boot order is correct and there is not even an option for PXE boot.  Same thing with F12 boot selection... hitting F12 brings up the boot menu, but Windows Boot Manager is the only option.  Even when selecting Windows Boot Manager the W3 attempts PXE boot.

If it detects a network adapter the W3 appears to default to PXE boot no matter what settings you use in the BIOS or for the boot menu.  If you have a network adapter attached, but disconnect the ethernet cable the W3 will go through a "Media Fail" process for about three minutes before finally booting to the local hard disk.  This happens even if you choose Windows Boot Manager with F12.

The W3 appears to have hidden PXE boot, but no way of controlling it with the boot order.  Very frustrating.

Since I cannot duplicate will need to ask ifit is the BIOS software (boot) or the Windows software chosing. If you do a F12 boot, does the selection happen before or after the PXE ? Can you use MSCONFIG to reach the "safe" boot and again is this before or after the PXE search ?

If I hit F12 it hits the boot menu before attempting PXE boot.  If I choose to boot from USB it still goes through the PXE boot process prior to loading the boot loader from the USB.
