Sound not working properly through headphones

I only bought this Aspire M3-581TG (with Windows 7) a few days ago and I am having problems with the sound.

As far as I'm concerned (haven't had much time to check), the sound is normal with the speakers however once I plug my headphones in, the sound only lasts for a little bit (10 seconds or so) then cuts out. I have to replug them in every time it cuts out to continue listening. I have tried different headphones but it's still the same. I also got a driver updater program which updated all of the drivers, still no change. I don't know if this is connected or not but everytime I turn my laptop on and Dolby Home Theater tries to load it shows a message saying "The current Dolby audio driver version is 7.2.8000.17 and the software application expects driver version 7.2.7000.7. Please install a valid driver and software application combination." This message only started showing after I updated all out-of-date drivers.

If anyone could help in any way it would be much appreciated, thanks.

P.S Not actually sure if its a notebook or ultrabook, feel free to move if need be. Sorry.

We have no idea what "driver update program" you've loaded, but it sounds like it installed a driver that it was not supposed to. All of the drivers for the system are on our Driver page and on the eRecovery software.

I would suggest restoring the system to factory defaults and attempting to use the system without the "driver updater".

I am having this problem aswell, exactly the same. I have restored factory settings, reinstalled drivers from the aforementioned web page, rolled back drivers, updated drivers... the works. Sound is absolutely fine through the speakers but as soon as the headphones are plugged in it can last for up to 10 seconds. I am lost for how to fix this problem so any helpful hints are much appreciated.

Also I seem to be having a strange occurence where the USB 3.0 drivers periodically fail, having reinstalled this driver from the web site at least 6 times since I purchased the laptop at christmas I was wondering if this was a known error with Windows 7 or if there was a fix to this too.

    I own the same laptop M3 581-TG.

Looking forward to your swift and helpful response

    Thank you

If you are having an issue with the headphone jack cutting out, it very much sounds like a hardware issue, rather than a software issue.

We would suggest contacting technical support in your region for further assistance with this issue.
