My model number does not seem to be in your database. I am interested in upgrading the RAM. My computer only has 4 soldered GB's with one open RAM slot. SO, I simply need to know what my options are. And quickly because the laptop has already been purchased but is not yet here and my nephew leaves for college VERY soon.

Please help me out.

Thank you,

I appreciate the reply, but at this point my laptop is still in transit to my house, so I cannot use the Crucial scan.

Hopefully, it gets here soon. I was just anxious because I will then have to scan the laptop and order the advisable RAM, which could take a few days.

As far a I know this is the exact model number. However, there is another set of numbers just below it that doesn't seem to be linked to anything else. It is:

    Model Name: A515-56-36UT

    Part Number: NX.AASAA.001

Let me post the link: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NX.AASAA.001

It displays the specs, but not in detail. It doesn't say anything about "buffered" or "unbuffered".

Ah, I appreciate it, but I made a silly mistake.

The correct model is: Aspire 5 A515-56-50RS.

The corresponding Acer Tech Specs page is : https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NX.A1HAA.005

It appears to have the soldered 4GB of RAM and a 4GB stick of RAM installed.

Unless I am missing something, there is other slot to add another stick. My only option would be to swap out the 4GB with a larger capacity one?

I would wait buying an additional DDR4 module (RAM) till you have your laptop as these DDR4 modules brands are not always following specs in the manuals. Also if you want to double your speed, to 27 GByte/sec. instead of the 13 GByte that will come with the laptop you need to install exactly the same DDR4 as is soldered. Any different brand, speed or part number may not double your speed. If you want more than 8 GB memory than you will not be able to get "Double Channel" (double your speed option).

Once you have your laptop type in the following command in the Command prompt (opened as Administrator):

    wmic memorychip list full

Look for partnumber, Speed and manufacturer and order/buy exactly the same DDR4 module
