I have i acer predator helios 300 , and I noticed that when I play dota2 a small noise appears on the right side of the keyboard that is not the fan, and when I switch to another program or exit from dota2 it no longer sounds but if I go back into dota2 it appears again, someone knows that it is?

So coil whine is a weird side effect of the electronics of the laptop, and it happens when a certain ammount of power is passing through a capacitor, it's harmless but random between laptop to laptop bit more info here:

The why it happens between changing between Dota and desktop, I would guess the power draw from the game is causing the capacitor to hum. I get it when I play CoD! Sometimes doing things like plugging and unplugging the ac adapter cause it to stop, but as it's so random there isn't any 'good' suggestions on what to do about it I'm afraid

Nope, no damage from the hum, but depending on how loud it is or the frequency it may be damaging to your sanity if it's just at the right frequency ;)

It's just a harmless annoyance of modern tech, nothing to worry about
