Why is my new Acer Swift 3 SF314-59 lagging so much?

Hi, I recently bought a new Acer Swift 3 and have been experiencing huge lag spikes while even switching from one application to another. I haven't downloaded anything sketchy and have not made any other major changes with the exception of fixing a volume issue. I was having a problem where, while Bluetooth was connected, my system volume buttons didn't work and I had to manually change volume of applications like Spotify. I typed the following into command prompt: "reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Bluetooth\Audio\AVRCP\CT /v DisableAbsoluteVolume /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f" in case it's relevant.

Even now, if I repeatedly click between Opera and Discord, it will freeze. A couple times, the screen went black and flashed back in to the application I was trying to get to. I restarted my computer to 'solve' this issue this morning, but it seems like it's back, and I'd obviously rather not have to do this multiple times a day.

Can anyone help me out?

Does Event Viewer give any insights into what is happening at those moments?

Ok wow. So I opened my Windows Updates for the first time and saw a gigantic list of all the pending updates. Here I assumed that automatic updates were on and that I had nothing to worry about but clearly I was wrong. Point is though, this was very helpful. I just updated everything and tried reproducing the issue, but it looks like it's gone. Thanks a lot!!
