Well I agree with of you, Acer should have provided updates for at least 5 years. We are in may 2020 and I am writing using the same aceraa3-a20. Hardware still alive but such a shame you cannot an official update. The reason I purchased this tablet before because I didn't wanted to pay for the brand rather than the hardware. Loved Acer before. Laptops desktops... Hope they will get better

Would not have purchased if I knew I was going to be stuck in 2014 with the operating system. The A3-A20 Iconia is to good a device to die because of "can't be updated' . Acer has lost my business, there's 4 in my household now but soon will be another brand. Hope this makes them think about killing off a popular device so you have to re buy. Sad.

This is just my opinion and you can take this advice as you wish? With the Iconia A3-A20 OEM Android KitKat 4.4 version the record shows that allot of smartphones were also updated to either the one up Android 5.0 Lollipop or max to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow so and if Acer would have updated the Iconia its still way behind todays and most useable Android 9 Pie or the 10 or even the latest Android 12. So remember this, Android per se is not upgradable like windows per se. In saying this here is what an "Upgradable" (or not) device for Android is? These devices are defined as devices which once had an older version of Android and whose technical characteristics still support new versions of Android... until one day they don't and that is where the problem is. There are also dependencies on the carrier (Cell Phone Company or operator) who provided your sim card and they may now allow upgrades of that device.

Note, some devices with Android 4.4 could be possibly upgraded to 5.0 or 6.0 …or some (very rarely) to 8.0 Oreo, others, are not upgradable at all! Yes its "Sad to say" but that is the whole truth! Btw, I take no responsibility and don’t suggest that you attempt to root your Iconia A3-A20 to a higher Android version than the OEM 4.4 as and unless there is an exact working guide of someone that has done so with a working rooted upgrade, as allot of these upgrade roots have allot of bugs and are not reliable and that is probably why Acer hasn't upgraded the Iconia A3-A20 to a higher Android version or bothered with the intricacies of doing such an update. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
