When you say almost boots is it a different error? As I've said I would expect you to have a different issue when you disable all the stuff. Could you post the command line you are using to boot and the error you are getting

Do you mean initramfs? That's pre boot post kernel load, if you have messed up that you will need to install again. Fixing these issues is a issue by issue basis, so make a change , get a new error, make a change. If you make lots of changes at once or mess with boot parameters of will make it impossible to troubleshoot and I won't be able to assist

I would seriously recommend changing the distribution of it's not working.  Mint uses an older kernel, so swapping to something like Ubuntu 20.10 or 21.04 when it comes out or fedora 33 may just fix all the issues you are running into.

Changing the sata mode is only needed if your drive is runnijg in Intel RST mode. If it's not and the drive appears when you go to install you don't need to do this step

The lock and Acer sounds like secure boot, which may have been triggered if you have messed with initramfs , you may need to turn it off and re install.

Sounds like the bootloader is about foobard , have you changed any UEFI setting between last boot and this time?

Glad it's finally working, troubleshooting kernel problems can be almost impossible, so hoping that a new kernel fixes it really is the better option sometimes ;)

Where is grub located? Boot tab shows drives with efi partitions only. If you can see the disk in the info tab you are good.

I have no idea where grub is. the window HD boot got corrupted so I did a restore using the acer restore USB, and now I see no boot for linux.
it only boots to windows and shows the windows drive in boot

Reinstall/rebuild  grub on the drive where Linux is and use this drive as a primary boot, grub will add win to the menu.
