Acer speakers have disappeared. Swift5 SF515-51T

I have an Acer Swift5 SF515-51T running Windows 10. It's run fine for a couple of years. The internal speakers have "disappeared." I can play sound on Bluetooth, but not through the internal speakers or headphones plugged into the jack. With Bluetooth off, Realtek audio console says "No output device installed" Device manager shows only Bluetooth output devices. Scanning for hardware changes doesn't bring them back. The latest driver for Realtek is 2018, and I've reinstalled it.

I made no hardware changes, nor installed any software other than the latest Windows updates. Could this be a hardware problem? If so, can it be fixed?

Play a file through different media player and check.

Fire up Device Manager and expand the Audio inputs and outputs section, then take a screen shot and share it here.

Reset this PC and keep my files
1. Shutdown the unit. Press and hold alt+F10 key. Then turn ON the unit.

I can't afford to completely reinstall windows. I use this machine fore software development, and I am running web servers, code repository servers, and lots of stuff entwined with the OS. It would take me weeks to fix resetting windows to factory settings.

I think that I am going to live with Bluetooth until it is time to buy another computer.

Your laptop came with Realtek DCH drivers, so you can find a newer 2019/2020 acer laptop realtek driver to install --- use the INSTALLER SETUP.EXE. Find a newer acer laptop in the same product range --- i.e. if your 2018 acer laptop came with DTS, then find a 2019/2020 acer laptop with DTS.

2 possible problems:

1) Open every category in the device manager and find an item with a yellow flag (which is a problem flag)
2) If there isn't an item with a yellow flag, then your computer put the wrong driver in the Intel SST Audio instead of Realtek Audio.

In both cases, you can try to update the yellow flag or wrong Intel SST audio to a realtek audio driver in the device manager.

You can FURTHER update your realtek driver and realtek software components using this method (search using realtek 2021 media, instead of 1903 in the link) --- to 6.0.9180.1

Yes, there should be speakers in that list under Audio inputs and outputs. Here is what mine looks like:

Well, I was busy for a couple of days.... and all the Realtek stuff reappeared, and the speakers and audio jack work like a charm. I made no software changes, accepted no windows updates. Go figure.
