The model is Acer SF515-51T-507P. We have a few of this model, and like every one has bubbles on the base. Most of them only have a few, but one is really terrible. Anyone know what's wrong with this model?

Most cases are made from heat sensitive thermoplastics which tend to deform if large areas are continuously exposed to temperatures above ~50*C. This could easily happen if the laptops are stored in a hot vehicle during the summer or used on hot or soft surfaces that disrupts mainboard airflow.

The laptops were stayed in our warehouse, room temperature (like 5-35*C). Those were unopened box, with the Dehumidification bag inside. So it was not caused by temperature or humidity. My guess is the coating was oxidized. Please see the attachment for the detail, be careful it is ugly lol

a quick update: we opened about 10 units of brand new, two of them are like the one in the image, 7 have less bubbles, and one is good.

Looks like solvent vapor infiltration of some kind. Got under & lifted (bubbled) paint near paint edges including those around air vents, speaker ports, screw holes & pad depressions. Whatever it was, I doubt it'll continue though  bubbles might eventually peel and expose the bare plastic underneath. The vendor might replace them if still within the vendor's returns policy period --- usually only a few weeks. Since it's a cosmetic issue not affecting function, I doubt other remedies would be available.

Thank you Jack. We have those about a year now. Just very disappoint with the quality control of Acer. Never happen to any other band.

    Hi charliefu,

That appears to be heat-related damage due to the warpage around the airvent. Maybe air vents were blocked or laptop sat on a hot surface?

Got the same problem, not sure if it's heat related as I use an elevated laptop stand and when using on lap it never gets hot.... Just crappy plastic "anodisation?" Out of warranty though, it only had minor bubbles during warranty lol...

Looks more like cosmetic paint peel/blister. The structural surface under the coating looks fine.

mine got some sort of blisters on it after 1 year and a half. When you press on the blisters, the skin got off and wet. Water inside the blister?? Yes. I've been using acer laptops for so many years and this is my first time experience this issues. Btw, swift 5 is quite expensive here in Malaysia. Can't believe such an expensive model come with very low quality of casing

I also have the same issue with some blisters appearing on my laptop skin. Very disappointed due to my laptop is still new and this issue occurred. Please assist me to resolve the issue.

Since your laptop is new you should have no issues with contacting Acer support to get it fixed under warranty.
