    Hi!
Suddenly the cover of my Acer SP314-51-39BL (out of warranty) seems to be broken: it is separating from the display.
Display and touch are working fine.
Do I have to dismount all the laptop to replace the back cover of the screen?
Where can i find the replacement part?
    Thanks in advance!

That is caused by a failing hinge. It has tightened up enough to put enough extra pressure against the mount that the screws have pulled loose. You may be able to open it and loosen the hinge bolt (then fix it in place with something like loctite blue) and reseat the screws by putting epoxy in to rebuild the mounts.

Mmm i think i'm not able to do what you suggest me.
But if it's caused by a failing hinge, why Acer doesn't recognize the problem?
So, is it necessary to dismount all the laptop to do the operarions you suggested me?

You don't have to fully disassemble it, but you do have to get a fair amount taken apart. Perhaps there is a technician locally that can do it for you? The hinge issues typically take a long time to show up, and are exacerbated by opening and closing the lid with your hand off center. I believe they have taken steps to reduce the issue on newer models, but it shows up on a small enough percentage of system that they haven't done any type of recall.

All those threads/problems with hinges are not to be considered wear and tear. A laptop isn't a disposable product.
Very disappointed with Acer. I think i will not buy in future another Acer laptop.

    Tinkerer

Mine did the same. They refuse to repair it under warranty. Hundreds of other customers face the same issue.
Acer laptop hinge is a design flaw.

To all you having problems with the hinge....here's another one down in New Zealand.  fed up with the supplier who I have a Product Protection with and will not even try Acer from what I have read here so I am now taking my case to the Small Claims Court and also in my country we have a television programme called "FairGo" and I intend to take it there just to show people of our country what a rip off the Acer People are.   Hope it does some good for those in the future.

And for the person that mentioned about opening the computer by the centre....yep I do that  BUT  if you go through the manual it is not mentioned so the company has no fall back on that.  I thought there may be something there about periodic service of the hinge, like silicon spray or suchlike, but nothing....just keep on opening until the hinge bolts come away!!!!
