i recently bought 2 more 8gb sets of ram ( same mghz ) as originally installed in the prebuild. nowhere in the bios does it allow me to utilize the 3200 ram. surely there is a way of being able to use all the mghz available?

    Hi RobCorden,

May I know the full model name of your unit.

The UEFI is limited to running ram at the JEDEC speeds that the ram supports I'm afraid :(

I answered your other thread, but the chipset in your PO3-600 doesn't support XMP overclocking. So your memory is going to run at the speed of the slowest memory in your system, either 2400 or 2666. In you case the base speed of the memory you bought is 2400, so the system is running at 2400. Best bet is to send the XMP memory back and get some that's rated at 2666 JEDEC.

Maybe a mod could make a sticky of at least provide a list of few RAM modules if different sizes that are guaranteed to work at the desired maximum speed? You know, what to look for and so on. Actually, this is what Acer should do, but...

Though that would potentially be helpful, it would quickly get unwieldy. There are so many models and sub models... We only have visibility into the ones that are shipped in the USA and Canada and I know there are pretty radically different versions for some other locales.

As “billsey” is saying, your ram will only function at the lowest speed if you mix different ram modules together e.g. if you mix a 1x 2400MHz module with a 2666MHz module then the memory will always run at the lowest speed and in your case it will run at 2400MHz. The Predator PO3-600 (if that is your desktop model?) the Acer recommended memory modules to be used for the PO3-600 desktop are the DDR4-2400MHz or the DDR4-2666MHz modules only, it’s a very simple formula.

The Acer memory specs for the PO3-600 are:

    • Supports DDR4 2400MHz and 2666MHz SDRAM with Dual-channel architecture
    • Accommodates four un-buffered DIMMs into its 4 slots
    • Up to 16GB per DIMM with maximum memory size up to 64 GB total

We don't have full specs for the PO3-630 models, they have not yet been released in the USA or Canada.
