Wifi does not work after Windows update on Acer Swift 5

Hello,

Please can someone help me? I have a similar problem to other people here that is driving me absolutely crazy in that immediately after some Windows updates, my Acer Swift 5 (Core i5) cannot connect to the internet and the Wifi driver (Intel AX201) has a problem (it shows a triangular icon with !).

The first time it happened about 6 months ago I had to take it to the Acer service centre as I had only just bought the machine and had no idea what was wrong with it. Now it has happened again but there must be an easy fix without having to take it to the service centre every time there is a Windows update.

When I uninstall the driver and restart the machine, I can connect to Wifi but after anywhere between 10-40 minutes, it will stop working and revert back to the a triangular icon with ! But now even this has stopped working.

I have already tried uninstalling the device and the restarting and also ticking the box that says ‘delete the driver software for this device’ and restarting but is the same result for both: after restarting the wifi works for a few minutes and then corrupts again.

This is an absolute joke of a set-up that this problem keeps happening and I am seriously regretting buying this machine :(

If anyone can help me fix this I would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

humm a pretty old one  so probs not driver 🤔 you could try updating it ( https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/30434/Windows-10-Wi-Fi-Drivers-for-Intel-Wireless-Adapters ), also whats the power saving mode in? it could be putting itslef to sleep and then failing to re-initilise

Wow that's a really old adapter driver. Although I have a different model (Swift 3 SF314-57), it came with the same version adapter driver (21.80.2.1). I experienced repeated disconnection problems albeit with different symptoms to what you describe. My problems were solved by updating the driver & I suggest you try that.

Intel have recently released version 22.50.1 dated 1 June 2021. You can get it here:

    HI Athwart/Leostat,

I realised that I already tried downloading the latest driver yesterday and the problem just came back:

It's just done it again  :scream:

I downloaded the latest driver, the Internet worked for twenty minutes and then back to the triangle with!

Argh fustraiting! for the power saving check under the device manager tab, turn mimo power save off, and try turning down the transmit power to medium (just as a testing measure!)

The mimo setting stops the adapter from powering down as much, and the tranmission power makes it sip less juice

Thanks for the help. I had to take it to Acer Service Centre to fix it. I will wait for the next Windows update when I inevitably have to take it back there again.

Leostat: I can't see any of these buttons you are talking about? Which tab under Device Manager do I click?

They live under the device -> advanced, you had them before a few screenshots up :)
