The driver is up to date, but I get a code 10 device cannot start message. Then a protocol error between driver and the device code C0000186. Is there a way to test if this is a hardware failure?

Topic doesn't show. It is about the Trusted Platform Module 2.0

Never got a response to this post. Is it fixable?

If the drivers that have been updated since the original post haven't helped I'd say you have a hardware issue with the TPM. Luckily it's not a required component so you can continue to use the laptop without it.

The computer still works, yes. But it keeps trying to update windows and then fails to install. Just a nuisance. Any solutions? Currently stuck in Windows 10 version 1607.

You may be looking at two different issues. Have you tried a manual upgrade with a downloaded Windows ISO? Give it a shot with the new 2004 version.

@BAK52 please start a new thread for your question (use the Ask a Question button) rather than asking on this old one. You'll be more visible to the community and will be able to mark a solution so others can find it in their searches more easily. Include your full model number, what you are seeing, what you expect instead and what you have tried so far.
