Acer Aspire 5 Model: A515-56-52RH

and want to connect to a projector with vga input. Bought this hdmi to vga adapter https://www.bunnings.com.au/antsig-hdmi-to-vga-adaptor_p4360485 for my old acer and it would fine on it. But it does not work on this brand new laptop. How to make it work?

Sorry. You need an active HDMI digital signal to VGA analog signal converter since VGA analog signal output is not supported. Your Antsig unit seems to be a passive HDMI to VGA cable adapter, not a signal converter. Signal converters are usually more expensive than a simple cable passthrough.

thanks jack I understand. What does not make sense to me that acer would make this new laptop which lacks the technology my acer es-531 model from 2016 had.

I'd guess it costs less to produce a mainboard with an HDMI port that supports only HDMI digital output. Most new TVs and monitors don't even have a VGA input port any more probably for the same reason.

You can however probably find a cheaper active USB-to-VGA signal converter that'll do the same job for data-only USBA & USBC ports that don't natively support video out. Plus you'll have the HDMI port free to do something else. :)
