    Hi vaplicador,

    Try to do power drain,

    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    2. Unplug the charger.
    3. At the bottom there will be a tiny pin hole with battery sign close to it take a pin or paper clip and insert into it hold that button for 20-30 seconds. Then turn ON the unit and check.

Switch Alpha 12 sadly doesn't have pin holes that can drain the battery. How long do i have to wait for it to normally drain by itself because it has already been a day.

Draining the battery works!!! Best thing is to plug up multiple devices that actively use (draw) power.

    Hi vaplicador,

Try to charge it with different charger.

Does the amber light on the power button stay on when you disconnect the charger? If so press and hold power until the light goes off, then plug the power back in and try turning it on normally.

yes it stays on even though the charger is disconnected. Also your recommendation didn't work.

Did the light go off after the long press?

OK, that sounds like a hardware issue. :( Either the power button isn't actually making contact when you press it or the power enable circuit on the MB isn't working.

Billsey, I have read many comments you have posted and you seem knowledgeable about this product. So let me ask. My Acer was purchased in 2016, it has no lights, and no weep hole to insert a reset prod. The computer has at times actually responded to the power button. So overnight I plugged in the charger and the battery indicated 100% the next morning, and the screen lit up. I thought problem was solved, but in the prior days the battery drained within 30 minutes. Now the computer won't respond at all. I took it to Micro Center and they refused to work on it, because the screen is glued in. The computer is good because it is so light weight, and my wife can tote it around, so I'd like to save it. I don't have a clue how to troubleshoot it. The Acer customer service agent was polite when he told me it was too old to send in, because they don't have parts for it anymore. This is beyond my ability to understand, these parts that are peripheral aren't unique, if its the motherboard then I'll simply use it as a boat anchor, for a very small boat. But I won't ever buy another piece of equipment from this company. I think the call was extending beyond his time budget, but whatever the case, inability to at least suggest a solution is not good customer service.
