Had my Acer Spin 713 since October 2020 and have been very happy with it. Today I opened it up and the screen went black, and refuses to some back on. Tried several reboots, still nothing.

If I plug it into an external monitor via HDMI, I can login as usual. When I go to settings and look for Displays, only the external monitor is visible. So it looks like the screen has failed completely.

Anything else I can try before getting in touch with Acer?

Chromebook was delivered by UPS this morning and is working fine. There was a fault with LCD panel so it was replaced.

So I am happy with quick turnaround with Acer warranty, all done within a week.

    Hi @nigelw,
I do understand your concern ,I will provide you with the troubleshooting step that might help ,
     >we can try to disable and enable the os .unplug power cable and press ESC+refresh(top row 4th key-it is look like half circle with arrow )+power button  at the same time and you will get "chrome os missing or damaged .
    >if you get that message press Ctrl+D  then follow the instructions to disable and enable os  (it is like a power wash and it will be delete your local data ).

I tried that also, did not work. I spoke to Acer support earlier and they have booked it in for repair, didn't offer or ask any technical questions. Going to power wash it first, then get courier to pick up.

My guess is the cable between the display and MB had pulled loose a bit...

Update: I shipped it to Acer via UPS with provided label and it arrived on Thursday 23rd June. I got an acknowledgement email on Monday 28th, and I just got a Product Repair Complete email at 14.22 today 29th June. So a fairly speedy service and turnaround, it will be delivered with 3 working days

I will update again when it arrives.

Nice to know it was the display itself instead of the cable...

The screen has gone blank on the Acer spin 713 2W my elderly parents use (gave it to them as a gift). Tried to reboot etc without success. Unfortunately warranty ended last month ;-(

There are a bunch of different things that can cause a blank screen symptom. @Kavanino you should start a new thread in the Chromebook section for your CP713-2W. Include the full model number (not just Spin 713), describe the symptoms and what you have tried so far. IIRC there is an HDMI port on the CP713-2W models. Have you tried connecting a external monitor or TV to that port? If that work we know to pin things down to the display or cable, if that doesn't work either it might be something on the motherboard instead.
