Can't figure out what to do to turn my Aspire 5 A515-43-R19

So, about 2 days ago, my keyboard wasn't working, and at the same time it stopped, there was a windows update. The update automatically ran, and then my PC turned off after. Now I can't turn it back on. At first I thought maybe the battery died or something of the sort and I took it apart a few times, but it's just occurred to me that maybe my keyboard needed an update for its drivers, and now since the keyboard doesn't work I can't use the power button or anything else. I tried hooking up an external keyboard but no power = no connection to the keyboard. It's charging so the problem HAS to be the keyboard. Is there ANYTHING I can do about this?

Remove the charger. Insert a paperclip into the reset  pinhole on the bottom for about 30 seconds. Plug the charger back in but wait for the battery charge  LED to turn from solid orange to solid  blue. Then try to turn it on again.

    It's an A515-43-R19L.
Also, the charger LED is always blue, and that didn't work

For clarity, I CAN NOT use the keyboard or power button at all, so I can't turn it on with the button, that's the biggest problem

Sorry. Looks like you're gonna have to pop the bottom cover off and check/reseat the wide KB connector on the mainboard.
PS: Also check for another spring load switch similar to SWG2 near the RAM sockets. Some mainboards may also have a safety interlock switch that cuts all power to the mainboard if the bottom case is misaligned or not pressing hard enough against the safety switch.

Didn't work. Suppose I'll just have to buy a new PC?

Did you look for a second switch on the mainboard?

PS: Also try depressing and hold the spring-loaded normally-on reset switch SWG2 with your finger nail or suitable hard tool. Then slide instead of lift your fingernail or tool of the switch so it snaps back up to the on position. Do this a few times to help clean the switch's contacts just in case they're corroded or dirty inside.

I don't see any second switch on the motherboard and all that happens when I press the battery reset button is if it's plugged in, it stops charging for a second then charges again, and if it's not plugged in, nothing happens. Is there anyway I can force it to power up without the power button other then the battery reset?

Doesn't seem to be separate power button board to try to bypass on this model. It's possible the KB itself or  its cable somehow failed. It might  be worth trying a replacement board since they're pretty cheap. New backlit KBs are about $30 from Aliexpress. Since they're also commonly used in many other ACER models, it may be available from its US warehouse in only a week or so instead of the usual 3-4 week delivery.

I see. Thanks for helping. How do I close the topic?

It's just left open as unsolved. Who knows? Some other user may yet chime in with a solution. However, if you decide to try the new $30 KB or perhaps a new ~$150 mainboard also from Aliexpress, please let us know how it goes. Thanks. Jack E/NJ
