How do I get my HDMI Output on the Acer Aspire Z24 to work on an HDMI input on my Television?

I can not get my Acer Aspire PC to acknowledge the HDMI output on my system, It doesn't exist anywhere on Control Panel. I am trying to extend the screen to my large screen TV via one of its HDMI inputs but its not working. The lead works fine. The sockets on both the PC and TV are fine. The HDMI inputs on all 3 inputs on my TV work fine. But nothing is working. Drivers are up to date, No detected problems via diagnostics. Its a complete mystery. Can anyone help me please. Thanks.

It should just be a case of plugging the HDMI cable in and hitting " windows + p " , if you right click on the desktop and hit display settings does it only show one display?

Yes it only shows one display. Maybe the cable is too long? Not enough signal maybe? A booster is the only other option I think.

It could be, is it quite a long HDMI cable? I had a long cable which worked with some devices but not others so it could be!  If you use something else other than the laptop but everything else the same does it work?

It's about 10 meters. From a PC not laptop to a large screen tv. The lead works I've tried it from my blueray player to the same TV. I'll order a booster. I've got a sneaky feeling outputting from computers is not the same as outputting from dvd or game boxes.

Which Z24 model do you have? Maybe the Z24-880-xxxx? If so there is both an HDMI-In and HDMI-Out port. Plugging a monitor into the HDMI-In will not work, it needs to be in HDMI-Out. If that's where it's plugged in and the cable is good then you should just need to select the appropriate input on the TV to get something.

Its the Z24 - 891. With both input and output. I have made sure I am using the HDMI output and the appropriate tv input which has 3 HDMI sockets and I've tried them all. It has to be signal degradation. Will find out in a week or so when I get a booster.

Yeah, let us know... How long is the cable that it might need a boost?

The cable is 10 meters. But i have checked what version it is and this may be the problem. I have a version 1 and some other forums recommend a version 2 HDMI cable so I've ordered what of those at 10 meters first before I buy a booster.

Update on this problem. I attached a 10 meter HDMI (V2) lead from the PC HDMI output to the Cello TV HDMI 2 Input and it appears to work fine. However it wasn't all plain sailing as the Cello TV was in fact and unknown to me an actual 3D television which I bought 10 years ago when 3D was the thing. Some settings needed altering to force the TV not to accept 3D and now I can see the view from my PC. Activating the Windows +P key is not recommended as it sends the image on the TV crazy so leave that alone. So always use a HDMI Version 2 lead and check the settings on the TV to make sure nothing is stopping the image from correctly displaying. All in all it all cost me about £15 trying to sort this problem out but that's far less than buying a whole new set up!
