hello everyone.. I spend the last month looking for a solution to upgrade the CPU cooler for my PO3-620 - i7 10700 ... and all that without removing the motherboard and I kept the existing backplate and used a very easy tweak (look at the pictures)

after some research.. calculation.. head scratching.. and many Amazon returns I finally stumbled on a low profile CPU cooler with bracket that and height that would fit...

with the use of 4 small standoff screw, I succeeded to install the Cooler Master Hyper H412R.
I get very very good thermal results (will add screenshot soon)

Installation : I installed the 4 standoffs in the existing CPU fan bracket to make them longer and reach the cooler screws

here are some pictures

Using the Stress Test in CPU-Z // didn't go above 60 degree during that 10 minutes stress test...
(I didn't keep any screeshot with stock cooler for the same test.. best the CPU was getting very very hot)
You guys can still test it I wont put back that garbage cooler in my PC...

Will provide an update in a week or so...

Good job and good pics you got there!

Just a note for those going for Noctua HSF. There's no need to remove the motherboard and replace the original backplace with Noctua's SecuFirm2. All you need is four M3x12 screws.

What's the specific length of the small stand off? And the size of the thread?
I just made my own thin locking washers to lock the 3 screws of the mounting cpu bracket in place, then i use the intel cooler mounting bracket of my NZXT Kraken M22. I completely rebuild my acer predator orion 3000 into a bigger case so i can connect all my 14 drives with a another modifications. My next upgrade will be adding watercooling loop.

And.... is that the original power supply...???
my apologies for all the questions,,,, my pc sucks,,, as soon as I start gaming it heats up to a 100c,,, then it starts to thermal throttle,,, so over it... need to switch to a bigger case and add more cooling....
    thanks for your time...

It's very easy actually. It's my 1st time to disassemble a pc and reassembling it agian. Just take a photo of each part you remove so you'll not get lost when your are about to reassemble it altogether again. Yes it's just stock psu, cause the asus rog thor i bought is not compatible with the mobo, the rog thor comes with 24pins connector, my acer mobo only have 6pins connector. After i transferred most of the parts to the new case my temps improved due to better airflow, plus i added 7 fans total and NZXT KRAKEN M22 CPU COOLER.

Those numbers are good for normal use, and very good for gaming. Full bore gaming usually takes you well into the 80s...

Hey mate... thanks for the advice,,, finally took the leap,,, turned out ok,, except i lost my wifi... had to cut the cables to get them out of the old case,,, all good I also had a wired connection,,, ended up with a corsair 5000x RGB case... stuck a few fans in and het presto.... temps pic is after 10 mins of gaming,,,, i would of already maxed out in the other case,,,, bit of cable management to do,,, but seriously,, thanks.

Nice work mate! Glad you did. Temps is a lot better now due to more airflow.
Mine, i was able to remove the 2 wifi wires and 2 antennas, then placed them inside my new pc case. I placed the antennas not the same but close as what it was on my predator case since i'm having a bigger case now. The wifi wires are long enough to place them around you case.
What pc case did you get? Is the from corsair?

I used standoffs from my box of many things.. it's probably from an old motherboard.. stand off kits are also available on Amazon and eBay...

so I kept the original backplate.. screw the standoff it the 4 corners and screwed the heatsink in the standoffs
ya my post got kind of hijacked lol

Did you have to remove the graphics card or the ram? How easy was the proccess? I am thinking about getting the Orion 3000 that comes with the 3060ti. I want to find a good cooling option that would work for this pc.

the hardest part of the process was to find a cooler that would fit and make contact with the CPU. Thankfully its easy to return items with Amazon !
otherwise it was very easy to install that specific tower cooler. didnt have to remove GPU or RAM.

The height of the stand off is important.

still very happy with that mod. cpu runs cool and quiet

however that blower 3060ti gpu gets noisy
