I have a Spin model N17H2 that suddenly stopped working. It was charged to 61% and I plugged in the charger and it just shut down. I’ve held down the start button but it hasn’t restarted. I can’t locate a battery reset button.
Any help would be appreciated.

The model number for your Spin 1 should be something like SP1xx-xxx-xxxx, the N17H2 number doesn't really help even though they have it marked as a model number. Once we know which one you have we can start going deeper into the diagnosis. Does it continue to charge when you plug it in?

Billsey , thanks for responding. Upon further review the number is sp111 32N. See photo attached.
It won’t start up so I can’t tell if it’s charging. Appreciate your help and let me know any other questions.

OK, on the SP111-32N there is an indicator light right next to the power port that should be amber when plugged in and charging and blue when plugged in and fully charged. If it doesn't light at all it is more likely the charger that has failed. On the other side of the laptop there is an indicator light next to the power button and it should turn on when the system is running. If it's not coming on then the issue is more likely in the motherboard.

Vlad5969, your laptop model is the "Spin SP111-32N" and these are the troubleshooting suggestions from its Acer service manual in relation to "Computer Shuts Down" and "Can't Charge Failure" problems and issues. Your problem could be as simple as a bad battery, a bad charger that you could diagnose yourself but and anything more complex do not attempt to fix it yourself if you have valuable data on your laptop. Just as a reference for you, these are the components that may need either changing and/or looking at:

    1. Battery - which is the "PANASONIC AP16L Polymer 2S1P PANASONIC 2 Cell 4670mAh Main COMMON" HQ Part No: HQ60334819007 and Acer Part No: KT.00205.002
    2. Charger - which is the "Adapter DELTA 45W 19V 1.1x3.0x7.7 ADP-45HE DB LF black with acer logo, cost" HQ Part No: HQ60312896007 Acer Part No: KP.04501.012
    3. Male Power Plug at Laptop side or Female Plug at Charger - check to see if not damaged and are making full contact.
    4. Thermal Module - the heatsink and fan airways could be blocked and obstructions which can cause an overheating issues of the laptop, the thermal paste could be dried and brittle and having no shielding affect that contributes to your laptop is overheating and turning off.

As you can see all these aspects could affect your laptops power failure(s) these issues are complex and need a systematic diagnoses as they are related to allot of components that could burn out and wear out or need checking that could be affecting power issues. If you haven't got any experience in doing these things? Then I suggest that you take your laptop to an Acer service centre in your area or to an experienced technician that can diagnose your issues correctly as doing anything and/or attempting to do anything internally will damage your laptop permanently and beyond repair. good luck and hope this helps.

    Computer Shuts Down Intermittently -
If the system powers off at intervals, perform the following.
    1. Makes sure the power cable is properly connected to the computer and the electrical outlet.
    2. Remove all extension cables between the computer and the outlet.
    3. Remove all surge protectors between the computer and the electrical outlet. Plug the computer directly into a known serviceable electrical outlet.
    4. Disconnect the power and open the casing to check the Thermal Unit (refer to Thermal Unit Failure)
    5. Remove all external and non-essential hardware connected to the computer that are not necessary to boot the computer to the failure point.
    6. Remove any recently installed software.

Can’t Charge Failure - If the battery can’t charge perform the following, one at a time.

Gentlemen, thank you for responding. I plugged in the charger and neither the amber or blue light Las come on. Looks like I’ll take it to the service center and see if the can troubleshoot it but it sounds like it’s the battery or the motherboard. Probably cheaper to buy a new laptop.
    Thanks again

No indication like that is more likely the charger than the computer... So it might not be as bad as you think. :)
