Acer Aspire D270-1824 black screen

My netbook went black suddenly and I don't know what happened.

I downloaded the bios from this site on a USB stick, now I don't know what to do from here to try and fix my netbook.

My power light is on but my screen is totally black.  Right before it went black completely I got a partial error message that I think said, "Interactive event log failed".  It briefly looked like it was booting up then went black after I got that message a few times, but I could not read and copy the error message exactly because it flashed too quickly.

Can I save my netbook with the BIOS download?  or any other way?  If so, how do I use the BIOS that I downloaded onto my USB memory stick?

I am reading up on how to repair the problem.

So far, I have shut off my netbook.

As I held the power button down, at the same time I began tapping the F8 key repeatedly until I got some activity on my screen.

I chose the option that came up to fix (repair) my machine.

I am now waiting for it to find and fix problems.
