Speakers crackling on new laptop (Acer Spin 5)

The sound from my laptop speakers became awfully crackly and distorted. It has happened twice now. The first time only briefly, but just now it wouldn't stop and I had to close all sound related programmes and reopen to get sound working properly again, which is obviously not a feasible solution. Unfortunately seems a common issue with Acer laptops, but I didn't see any thread with the issue on this model, and didn't really understand much of the responses anyway. Can someone shed some light? Should I return the laptop? (only have few days to decide).

Right click speaker icon. Click open sound settings. Click sound control panel in right pane. Click speaker icon. Click properties Click advanced tab. Change settings to CD quality.

Didn't realise until after I posted, I posted in the wrong section, and couldn't work out how to delete it. Mine is a Spin not an Aspire. Would the resolution be the same?

Doesn't matter because it's usually a Win10 sound resolution and/or bitrate artifact. Change to CD quality to see what happens to the crackling. Jack E/NJ

This kind of worked except it came up with a warning, and with spotify it stopped working altogether and had to restart the programme. And there was a brief time where I heard the crackling when it was on the 16 bit(mine didn't say CD quality). Also seems an issue with the computer if it doesn't work properly with the default settings.

Sorry. You don't seem happy with the laptop. I suggest that you quickly do an ALT+F10 erase everything cold boot factory fresh reset. If the crackling problem is still unacceptable to you with a rest, then you should quickly return it to the vendor/seller for a refund as not meeting your expectations. Do this before the vendor's RMA returns policy expires, usually only a few weeks. ACER warranty service will take longer and probably not resolve the issue to your satisfaction since it is mainly a digital software sampling problem that sometimes occurs with different programs.

Nope even with 16 bit, I still getting terrible crackling sound. It's already passed the 21 day returns policy cos it's taken so bloody long to try and sort out all the problems.
