Hi,i have recently bought an Aspire 315-34.I can not get the webcam working.I have tried a few solutions that are suggested online.
If i go to device manager there is no webcam listed,i have to click "view" and then show hidden devices. Then "Camera" is listed,i click on that and it shows HD User facing,i click on that and it says"currently this hardware device is not connected to the computer(code 45).If i click update driver it says "best drivers are already installed".
The roll back driver option is greyed out.
I downloaded a patch as reccomended by support, and when i try to install it i get "DEVICE ERROR,PLEASE CHECK CAMERA VID/PID"
Please someone help!
I only bought the laptop few months ago from argos, and i know if i bring to them they will suggest sending it to acer.
Acer have said they will arrange to pick it up and look at it,but i know that will be at least 4 weeks with no laptop, which would be ok if it was over 12 months old.
The camera never worked by the way,its only recently i have went to use it.

    Hi funkman,

    # Try to get the BIOS page.
    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    2. Press and hold the F2 key and turn on the unit.
    3. You will be in setup utility page.
    4. Once you got the screen release the F2 key.
    5. Tap on F9 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    6. Tap on F10 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    7. Your unit will restart by itself.

Check this T/S and post the result.

    Hi funkman,

It looks like hardware issue. Contact acer tech support,

    Or

Book the unit for repair service,

Did you try an ALT+F10 cold boot factory fresh reset before you reinstalled Win10? Jack E/NJ.

Hi JackE,no i did not try that.
How do i do that? press ALT and F10 when laptop is booting?

Check your BIOS Main tab first to make sure both the F12 and D2D options are enabled. If the Win10 re-installation didn't corrupt the hidden factory recovery partition, you turn the machine on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key and the recovery menu should appear. It should allow you to refresh the system while trying to save your personal files or an erase everything reset to a factory fresh state.  In either case, you should probably initially try to turn the wifi off (FN+F3) because an errant Win10 update likely caused the issue in the first place. Once you confirm the camera is working again, you can turn System Protection on in Control Panel's restore point app, turn wifi back on, and temporarily block the errant update if/when the problem re-appears

The ALT+F10 factory reset is probably the best way to rule in or rule out a hardware issue. Jack E/NJ

so if i do what you suggest and it makes no difference, has it ruled out or in hardware issue?

Yes. If a factory fresh reset failes to bring the camera back, it's likely hardware. Could be as simple as re-seating the mainboard connector to make better contact. Still a hardware issue. Jack E/NJ

    "D2D options"  what is that?

D2D option. disk-to-disk. When enabled,  it allows access to the hidden recovery partition on the disk through the ALT+F10 cold boot recovery method to refresh or reset the visible C :  \  system partition on the same disk.
