I had a devil of a job installing mine. Turned out the ribbon cable, where it attaches to the motherboard, fits both ways up. It only works with the removal tag up(black side up on my cable). Hope this saves somebody my frustration.

There is no problem installing a SSD or harddrive in existing space for that for a Nitro AN517-51. Just remove drive bay, attach new drive to the right side and then reboot. For those w/o any experience in replacing laptop hardware be very coutious and don't destroy hardware by lenghtening cables connections or leave this task to a specialist. Same for adding or replacing the M.2 drive. It is like RAM replacement. Don't bend too much as connections can break off!

I replaced original Micron 2200 1TB M.2 with a Samsung Evo Plus 970 (boots in 5-6 seconds). I replaced hard drive after drive failure with a Samsung 870 Evo. To clone M.2 to second M.2 I used Samsung cloning software. To make M.2 SSD available in Samsung Magician switch drive to AHCI (1). For newer BIOS go to Main section and hit <STRG>+S to activate SATA Mode menu. After all works well don't forget to re-activate recovery partition and things run normal as Samsung's clone software does not do that. Have fun with a much faster laptop afterwards and of course with more reliable hardware than bought (delivered drives are worth just €90,- wilst Samsung drives cost you around €270,- an upgrade woth buying).
