have a Aspire A515-43 and like it a lot.  the only issue I a having is that the the internet speed to this machine is slow.  I can run a speed test on my desktop PC and also on my cellphone and see that Spectrum speeds thru my home router is often near 200 mbs.  But when I run a speed test on this laptop the speeds are more likely to be 30-40 mbs at exactly the same moment.  Is there a driver issue ? is the internal wifi card in this laptop just slow?  Can any one help me please.

Thanks

George

To avoid comparing apples to oranges, is your desktop PC using Ethernet, not Wi-Fi?

yes - both devices are on WiFi. Same distance from the router.

Your laptop's WiFi speed is slow because it's too far from the router. Usually, walls, big objects, and other things that use radio frequencies can mess with WiFi. If that doesn't solve the problem, update your driver software and reset router configuration to factory default.

Or try the below methods and check if the internet connection works fine on laptop:

    Method 1:

Run the "Internet Connection and Network Adapter troubleshooter" to diagnose the exact issue.
    Follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Open Control Panel.
    2. Type “Troubleshooting” in the search box and hit enter.
    3. Select “Network and Internet” option.
    4. First select “Internet connections” troubleshooter.
    5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
    6. Then select “Network Adapter” troubleshooter and then follow the on-screen instructions.

    Method 2:
If the issue persists, I would suggest you to disable security software temporarily and check.

Note: Once you are done with the troubleshooting, ensure that you have checked the option Turn on security software under settings tab.

Otherwise check out more methods that you can try to fix the issue by yourself.

My laptop can be right next to the router and it still is slower than all the other devices farther away from the router.  Troubleshooter did not identify any problems.  How would i disable security software please?
