Hi

I logged a call with Acer but havent got a response so I am hoping someone in the forums can help me out. I need to restore my Tablet back to factory and my recovery key has died. Its still under warranty and I want to confirm if I can take it to a repair agent in Adelaide and get it restored to factory as it is crashing constantly.

Everything you need is in the User's Manual. See Recovery (pg 65 to 82 in english version).

Hi, thanks but I should have mentioned that the recovery partition on the tablet is gone. I was hoping I could just download a reocovery disk from Acers website or someone could make me one and I could download it, seems painful to have to send it back to acer for them to just install Windows. Id do it myself but the unit came with no Windows 8 serial number on the device so I cannot even do that. What a painful system.

You don't need a serial number to reinstall windows 8 on the W511. It's store in the bios.

Also, if you just want to return to factory default, you can do that via PC Settings-General-Advanced startup, then troubleshooting upon reboot. You'll need an USB mouse for this.

i tried to install macrium reflect free into my W511. i saw 3 partition, one is recovery partition, 2nd is empty 128MB partition. i don't know for what purpose that empty 128MB partition. and the 3rd one is for C: drive.

my questions is, if i want to re-install win8, can i just delete the 3rd partition, then restart.. does it will re-create C: partition with win8 fresh installed ?

if i backup recovery partition, is it enough to delete whole e-MMC partition, and then try to restore back recovery partition then install all over again ?

i still don't know how acer partition system is working on W511. pls any comments.. thanks..

Your 128 Mo partition is the EFI system partition (100 Mo normally). It's a reserved space for the bootloader programs, files for devices drivers and utility programs. Don't delete it.

Nota: a 128 Mo partition could also be a MSR partition (Microsoft Reserved Partition). Don't delete it.

    For your questions:

    1. I'm not sure that you could access to the recovery tools after formating C: partition. I don't understand why you want to do that...

    2. I don't how it works on Acer system. On HP it's not possible. May be you could do that with a DVD/USB/SD drive... Wait for more informations before test it!

I understand that the 32GB 510 came with three recovery disks but the 64 GB did not which implies about a 4 GB recovery partition.

That said Acer will sell the 3 Disk set  (2 CDs and a DVD - in the US it is $20), see http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27543/ . You will need to enter your serial number.

    On mine :

    - recovery partition = 400 Mo - 100% free space

    - EFI partition = 100 Mo - 100% free space

    - C: = 46,68 GB - 56% free space

    - recovery partition = 11,05 GB - 100% free space (so where's my recovery!!!!!!!!).
