uninstalling acer updater

hey huys, I am new here and not very technicaly inclined. I have a question about my laptop, which is an acer aspire 7741-6694. By the way I am in Canada.

I have been getting a popup message that says the program acer updater has stopped working. I can't find anywhere on this site to ask an actual acer employee my question. It doesn't look like they they support their products if they are over 1 year old, and mine is 1 year and 11 months, so it looks like they offer me no support whatsoever. I'll keep that in mind when i make my next laptop purchase, cause that is 1 BIG strike against acer as far as i'm concerned.

anyways back to my question. the popup says the program called acer updater has stopped working.

I tried to uninstall the acer updater from add remove programs in control panel and it says:

an error (-5005: 0x80070002) has occured while running the setup.

please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications.

if the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: acer incorporated (http://www.acer.com)

then when i click the details button it says:

Error Code: -5005 : 0x80070002
Error Information:
>Kernel\KernelMedia.cpp (95)
>SetupNew\setup.cpp (836)
PAPP:Updater
PVENDOR:Acer Incorporated (http://www.acer.com)
PGUID:EE171732-BEB4-4576-887D-CB62727F01CA
$14.0.0.162
@Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (7601) IE 8.0.7601.17514

I don't know why it says anything about windows vista service pack 1, I have windows 7 service pack 1.

I hope someone here can help me cause I want this useless bloatware off my laptop.

thanks guys, somone please help me with this. This laptop has been nothing but problems since october past it is now mid june, and i hate my acer.
