SNID and Serial Number cannot be validated

Hi

 

Apologies if this has come up before. I have just bought an Acer Aspire V5 laptop for which I needed support from Acer. I have spent an hour going round and round in circles trying to get chat/email/phone to accept my serial number or SNID.

 

I have downloaded and installed the utility that is supposed to automatically detect this but it still claims I do not have a value S/N.

 

Is this a con?  Acer happy to take my money but makes it almost impossible to get help.

 

Can anyone tell me how to past this eternal loop please.
