W510: Windows update used 16.5G of the whole 32G space

Hello,

I bought an Acer W510 windows tablet. The empty space was 24G on arrival. I installed office which took 1.5G and therefore I had 22.5G empty.

Then I ran windows update (which took half a day to install almost 100 updates) and I am left with only 6G empty out of 22.5G before running update!! This means 16.5G has been used by the update ! I checked the recovery info (Advanced System Settings -> System protection) and it occupies only 500M so it is not the recovery data.

Is it possible to free up some space? Do updates "really!" use 16.5G on an almost new operating system?

I worry that I am left with so little space that I cannot even upgrade to Windows 8.1 later when it arrives.

You can use the Clean Disk utility (right click on C: - Properties - Clean disk).

For cleaning files of Windows Update, choose Clean system files. It's make a long time.
