Acer 5253 function key definitions

After having been screwed over ONE TIME TOO MANY and wasted a great deal of time due to unwittingly clicking some Fn key and completely disabling some basic system functionality, I'm trying to find documentation of exactly what all the nasty little Fn keys are for the Acer Aspire 5253.  You'd think I could find this with a simple websearch or a search of the Acer support site, but you'd be wrong.  What I found instead is a great deal more time-wasting nonsense in the form of a generic Acer manual (all that can be found in the Acer support area for the 5253) whose key mappings have nothing to do with reality, and a lot of foolishness about installing and running the Launch Manager, which requires a download and an unzip and a backflip and a demi-plie and a reboot and STILL does nothing.  So I'm asking, as the last resort to writing an oath in blood to never again purchase another Acer product: where can I find the Fn keys for the Acer Aspire 5253?  I don't want to change them, I don't want to do anything with them, I just want to know what they (allegedly) do, so that the next time some incredibly vital system function ceases, I'll at least have some idea which Fn key to use to unscrew it, rather than randomly clicking Fn keys and thereby screwing myself over even worse.

Not sure if this will help but --

On the support page for 5253 document downloads there is also a "Quick Start Guide" available (aka Aspire Notebook Series Quick Guide).  This has in it a page on Hotkey uses, eg Fn+Fx.

Let us know if it meets your needs.

Whoa, a 314 page quickstart guide!  It does have the Fn keys documented as you say, however, about half of them don't do what they say.  That's OK, I've got the ones that can render the laptop unusable, and that's what I care about - thanks!

    You are welcome!

To be fair, the guide is in multiple languages (? 20ish) so 314 pages isn't that bad.

If half of the Fns work you can now spend your time figuring out the other half Smiley Wink
