Aspire one D255 windows problem

I have and Aspire One D255 which has recently had a new hard drive fitted, but since I got the machine back I get a message saying that the copy of windows on my machine is not genuine, even though the version of Windows installed is the same as the original (Windows 7 starter).

The guy who did the repair is not interested in talking to me about the problem, so I first decided to try using the Keycode on the bottom of the machine to validate the operating system, but it has been partially worn off and I can't read it properly.

I then consulted the Acer website but when I tried to use the Acer recovery system, as advised by them, I discovered that that has disappeared too.

So I have a machine with a legitimate but non-genuine Windows operating system which I don't appear to be able to validate.

Can anyone help me?
