Acer Iconia W700 - SSD Hard drive disappeared from system - can't reinstall Windows 8

In both UEFI BIOS or Legacy BIOS the SSD hard drive has disappeared from my Iconia W700. I can't reinstall Windows 8 because Windows 8 can't find a SSD hard drive to install onto. Is there a software fix for this problem or has the 3 month old SSD hard drive already failed?

Run the rescue discs and give it some time to initialize (it will take many many minutes), but after it finishes initializing and asks you to select a drive, you can then stop the process as it should re-find the drive.

-Unless your drive is actually dead.... then you will need to send it in for warranty

    Thanks 1stTimeAcer.

When I tried reinstalling it with the Acer Windows 8 recovery discs a warning message appears telling me they're not bootable. I have already installed Windows 8 using these very discs but now they don't work.

I then tried to install Windows 8 using an official Microsoft Windows 8 OEM 64 bit full version disc, it boots perfectly but when I get to the screen where I have to choose the hard disk there is no hard disc to choose from. It like I already said has disappeared.

I am simply shocked that a 3 month old SSD hard drive could break and need to be replaced by another drive.

Is there anything else I could do?

I've had the same issue when I upgraded my SSD's firmware (Crucial M4, Twice), where the W700 turns on and tells me that there is no bootable device. Running the regular clean Windows 8 could find my crive, and in the BIOS it is also not detected. Reseting the BIOS setting won't help either.

But after the first time, which I got the drive to be recognized again is to boot the Acer Rescue discs. It is the very same process which got my drive to recognize the second time it dissappeared after a firmware upgrade.

I think you will need to find a way to get your rescue discs to boot so it can rescan your system for the drive. (Make sure to be in UEFI mode and set dvd drive to be the first bootable device).

If you can finally get your rescue to boot and it still won't find it, then you really may have a dead drive that needs replacement.

Thanks for your suggestions but it really appears that the SSD HDD is dead after only 3 months of usage.

This is the specific model I bought:

    Acer Iconia W700

    Model: NT.L0QEG.001

    Windows 8 - Intel Core (i3-2375M, 1,40 GHz, 3 MB) - 29,46 cm (11,6 Zoll) LED - LCD - CineCrystal - 4 GB DDR3 - 64GB SSD - Gewicht 950g - Maximale Akkulaufzeit 8Stunde(n) - Smart-Cover - Kabellose Tastatur

What company manufactured the 64GB SSD HDD?

The drive used in the W700 is made by Toshiba
