acer aspire AM1100-B1410A RAM upgrade issues

I have a stock acer AM1100-b1410A that I updated to windows 7 64 bit home premium a few weeks ago.  I still had the original 2GB of RAM installed.  I then ordered 2 more 1GB sticks at the 533Mhz speed and recommended by the retailer for my computer.  When I installed the additional RAM, the unit boots up and when music is supposed to play, it just crackles on the speakers and my network cannot be found.  I installed the new ram by itself in the first 2 slots and it works fine.  I install a module in the 3rd slot along with the first and second and the unit is fine.  Same with the 4th slot.  So, the unit works with 3GB but not 4GB.  When I go into computer properties, it shows that I have 4GB.  I am wondering if anybody can tell me why my sound and network ports and getting messed up?  I try to look up an updated bios for this model through Acer and it shows none available.  Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm thinking that you may have some mismatched RAM modules.

What identifying marks are on the factory installed modules?

I'm showing that the RAM shipped with the system is 667 MHz:

    MEM 1GB DDR2 667 UNB-DIMM NT1GT64U8HB0BY-3C

Were do you come up with this?  All the memory dealers tell you it has 533Mhz and the original had two 1ghz sticks of 533Mhz.  I have seen previous posts for this same model and you Acer people keep blowing it off.  You are not offering a solution.  People are even buying 2 sticks of 2Ghz RAM and trying it and the unit does not work.  Your machines will not work with 4GHz of RAM.  Do you have an answer?

It's unfortunate that you're having an issue trying to upgrade your RAM. I apologize if I wasn't clear in my original post.

The AM1100 shipped with many different RAM configurations ranging from 512 MB to 3 GB, from 533 MHz to 800 MHz.

From the information you provided, our Part Number for the AM1100-B1410A is PT.S890X.133, which originally shipped with 2GB of DDR2 RAM clocked at 667 MHz.

I can also confirm that the Mainboard specification has a max of 4GB of RAM at up to 800MHz.

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you specifically why you're encountering the errors you're having.

My initial thought is that the MB requires the RAM in a dual channel format, since you have our original RAM and the two new sticks that you have purchased.  Ensure they are each setup for the proper channel.

Secondly, there may be a compatibility issue between the two types of RAM, or even an issue with one DIMM slot.

I hope this is something to help you at least identify your issue.

As far as Acer having an answer, we only shipped this product with up to 3GB of RAM, so while the MB is spec'ed to support 4 GB of RAM, we do not support it in this configuration, and will not be to provide much more support other than what I've provided above.

My apoligies.  I am just getting fustrated.  One last question.  I originally had 2 Hynix 1GB 1Rx8 PC2-5300U 555-12 in my original factory computer.  I ordered from OEM PC world who told me that this was 533Mhz ram which I accepted because it has 5300 in the number.  Now they are saying that it is 667MHz like you said.  They sent me 533MHz ram, but they also said that all the different speeds are compatible and it would just make all the memory run at the slower speed.  Is there truth to this?  All the memory worked but it screwed up my sound and internet network.  Do you think that it can be because of different speed RAM?  I also had IC's just on one side and their's have the Ic's on both sides.  Can this be an issue?  I have never had memory problems like this ever in the past.

I can understand that it is a frustrating issue.

Based on your observations, I would say that it has not been wholly successful with using that RAM.

For best performance, Acer would recommend using matched pairs of similar speed sticks of RAM.

Memory speeds and how they are displayed may be confusing.  There is a great chart explaining the speeds and names on Crucial's website: http://www.crucial.com/support/memory_speeds.aspx

FYI, I had OEM PC world send me the Exact make and model of ram that I have in the first 2 slots.  I added the 2 additional sticks of 1GB ram and the exact thing happened.  Crackling sound when audion is played and the network is lost.  It is not a mismatch problem.  There is sume problem with this acer board not being able to support 4GB of Ram.  Other people have had this issue.  Is there no answer to this issue?  Why has there not been an update for the BIOS on these models?
