Iconia a100 will not boot, only one year one month after purchase directly from Acer

I was very happy with my Iconia a100 until yesterday when it simply failed to boot.Purchased directly from Acer only about 13 months ago. It was stuck on the Acer logo screen. I tried to turn it on but the screen went black, although the power and home buttons do light up. Searched the boards and see many others with same problem. I called technical support and was told it is out of warranty and I should find a local repair shop. I am expecting better support from this company, as the product is still relatively new. Acer support, please advise.
