I wonder if someone could help with my problem or should i go direct to Acer.  I have an Acer Notebook PC Aspire E1-571.  It is only 3 months old, i have been in hospital for a little while on coming home i started up my laptop only to find the Acer logo appears then nothing, after a short while the screen just goes black, it worked perfectly well before and has not been used since.  I saved the complete operating system on a 16gb USB stick, i even tried to boot up from the USB stick without any success.  By the way i am a 76 year old pensioner and am not computer literate.

When you tried to boot from the usb stick...had you altered the boot settings in the BIOS before attempting to load the operating system from the the usb stick ?

If not,you need to enter the BIOS by pressing (usually) the F2 key...the BIOS menu then comes up...use the arrow keys to get to the "Boot" page...then move the boot priority devices so that the USB device is at the top of the list...then hit F9 to save changes and then exit the BIOS...this should have ensured that when you boot up,the first thing that will be seen is your usb stick....hope this may help and good luck.

Thank you for the suggestion, however, once the Acer Logo appears the screen goes off and nothing will work at all.

In reply to st3phnnity, for some unknown reason while it was running on mains supply, I switched off disconnected the battery then powered back up to my surprise it all worked.  I think this could be a battery problem, I will have to investigate.  Anyhow thanks for you suggestion.
