Acer Aspire One D270 Crashes after windows display driver recovers from issue

Hi New on here I have looked around previously when I bought my netbook in July 2012

In Feb 2013 I had an issue of windows 7 coming up with a notification of

DISPLAY DRIVER STOPPED RESPONDING AND HAS RECOVERED after this message comes up the screen starts to pixelate and eventually goes to a blue screen shutdown,

This happened about 3 times the first time it occured, I sent it to ACER who basically did what I told them I had done and that was reload the operating system, and sent it back, within 7 days it did t again 3or 4 times in a row, again sent back to ACER they supposedly flashed the BIOS for an upgraded version though the version on the machine was the up to date one according to support online, then by the time it came back again it was into early May first night using it it crashed 4 times (trying to sign into ebay)again rang them send it back they send it back to me passed all tests, again first ues crashes again, again called sent in still passing tests, sent back with note on it saying SOUR (send out unrepaired) recieved it yesterday rang to find out what was going on and when they would replace the machine as it obviously has a fault, that their testing is not showing up but they will not attempt to try using the machine on the net which is when this problem occurs,.

I am sorry if this sounds like a rant or a carry on but this machine is driving me to distraction and I bought it for a specific couple of reasons and 1 being I did not want to take my large laptop out to my workshop area, (to read codes from the car) but this little one has only made it out there once when it was only a couple of days old, and at the moment the only programs on it are the ones it came with.

Thank You to anyone who might have a suggestion for this machineRobot Mad

as it is a display driver that is stopping have you attempted to update display driver?

Intel driver version 8.14.8.1075 is on the driver site

I feel that acer are just passing the buck on this one and waiting for warranty to expire, have spoken with them again still no joy is now in the hands of the department of fair trading and hopefully get a result through the lemon laws

have you attempt to restore system to factory defaults to see if something else has changed the behavior

or roll back system updates to Janurary 2013

It has been reinstalled 6 times now to original twice before going to ACER and each time it has come back from them it has had to go through the whole of initial setting up and unpacking of the compressed windows files each time then there is something like 85 critical updates to install I have tried running without installing the windows updates and with all to no change.

The driver on the machine is actually ahead of the one on the site it is currently 8.15.*.****

sorry I have not got it running at the moment, otherwise I would give you the full number, using my main machine should have stayed with HP this thing is about 6 years old now and never had a single issue with it, same with the one I bought the wife 2 years ago though I dont know how a 19 inch screen could be called a laptopSmiley Happy

HK53T is on the right track. I would suggest doing a system recovery to eliminate any other possible software issues. That way the original drivers will be reinstalled and the system should work properly. From what I've seen, Windows Updates has been installing the wrong drivers on the wrong machines. If your computer works properly with the factory original display driver there isn't really a dire need to update it. No one is going to be able to hack you because your display driver isn't updated. Not a crucial thing unless your display isn't working in the first place.

To do a system recovery you first need to back up all of your files, as they will be erased. For the record there is an option to save your files, I don't trust it an neither should you. Mistakes happen, not worth losing your data over.

Anyway, once your backup is done you can go to the start menu, then programs, and look for a folder called Acer.

In this folder there is a program called Acer eRecovery Management. Open this program and wait for it to load. Once it's completely loaded you'll be able to click Restore on the left.

A list of three options will appear, and you choose the first one. It should say something like "Restore to factory settings".

Once the recovery starts you just have to follow the on screen prompts.
