Aspire one d257 fails to start

Member Posts: 1 New User

Hi I have an aspire one D257, and it fails to start windows show this message:

"windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

blah blah blah

status: 0xc000000f

info: the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"

I tried to install a fresh copy of windows but the problem persists. I do not have neither recovery CD nor USB recovery.

What should I do.

I had a similar problem recently...I tried lots of times with different ideas to no avail...fortunately I had a Hirens Boot disc which I used with an external disc reader to "boot from hard drive" program on the disc...you may not have this disc but they are a couple of quid from eBay and a lot cheaper than buying a windows disc.

I should add that you can also download the disc and programs for free off the Hirens website...it has all the programs etc available for free...the program I used was the "boot from hard drive" program...apparently the RAM upgrade had caused this problem of failure to restore but it worked straight off with this.

    Hi,

Do you have hability to get in the BIOS ??

I would suggest to run Safe Mode and check if you experience the same issue. Please follow the steps below to start the computer in Safe Mode :

    1 Power off the computer.

2 Restart the computer, tap F8 on Acer logo screen about 3 times.

3 This will take you to ‘Windows Advanced Boot Options.

4 Choose "Safe Mode" in the Advanced Boot menu
