Aspire M3201 not booting up (Vista)

Hi,

Hoping for something to try before attempting a reinstall.

Its the Quad processor machine I have, not sure how to get more info from the machine in its current state.

Ok, so Windows is not loading.

I can get to the Recovery Tools screen.

Startup Repair does not work.

System Restore does not work.

Windows Complete PC Restore has no back ups.
Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool shows no memory errors.

I can access the various screens via booting up to F1, F8, F10, F12 but not sure what the best plan of action is.

I do have (I think) the recovery discs handy that you create when you get your machine from new but obviously I'd rather not trash my current data on the machine if at all possible. Its not just the data but all the software programmes I have installed, could be a major event to get them all again.

I have browsed the 'net as you do and noticed various `this download will boot up any pc`type discs but have never needed to go that far before so hopefully Acer users can suggest something first.

One other thing that I couldnt find, was how to back up data from the above sick pc (in its current non booting state). I can also access Command Prompt but its a new adventure to me so I'd appreciate any advice on how to continue.

Thanks for any help. If I remember any other things I've attempted I'll add them to the thread in a bit.

Thanks for reading if you got this far, George.

EDIT: Just to add, the pc wont boot up in Safe Mode.

Also the system gets virus and malware software checks every other day or so.
