I have an ASPIRE Z5761 All-in-One PC and would liek to be able to capture video from a Sony camcorder using Firewire - what is the best method to do this with this all-in-one?

Is it possible to add a Firewire card? Or is there another method that I can use?

Im assuming there is no USB ports on the video device?

If so, you need something like this.

Will a converter work with a Sony ilink camcorder ok? Do I need special drivers or anything? Will it just plug 'n' play?

Cant say for sure, however the converters are pretty inexpensive and tend to work best with newer computers. (Personally, I would try before giving the other options a go, just for $$ sake)

If you add the word "Hub" to the search phrase in that link you will find more expensive, though true converter type hardware.

If you are a true video nut, there is a whole other range of hardware you can get that will work. (Im not so cannot provide much info on them.) example

You could get an expansion card that would add fire-wire to the PC as well. example

Make sure to shop around! I only linked to one product in the links, Im sure once you decide on something you will be able to find less expensive, or higher quality (depending on your needs) by looking!

I think my main problem is that the PC is an ALL-IN-ONE was not one of theasiest PCs to uprade with expansion cards.

But thanks for your replies! Smiley Happy
