aspire 5251, updating bios.

OK,

I read the suggestion on ACER about bios updates..basically DONT DO IT, unless you need it.  and nothing else.

When I see I have bios 1.02 and there are updates(about 20) to 2.14...

I think there are problems someplace..

The only way toi decide is by the discriptions.  Which tend to be SHORT.

I also want to know..

INCREMENTAL??  which means i have to UPDATE 1 at a time to the final.

or

can I go STRAIGHT to the end and, supposedly, get the better BIOS..which (i think) has no description of what it does  or fixes..

I would like a quick response, as I am working on this laptop for someone else.

I have to comment:

a laptop with 2 gig ram running Win7 and SHARED video ram is STUPID..

Crucial says I can install 8 gig, the Site says 4gig...

    BIOS files are not incremental.

    Load the one you require.

    well,

    I hate fixing the bios.

Iv done it many times in the past.  And its only failed 2-3 times on the computers..

The last one was a toshiba laptop.  Made it a BRICK.

I think it changed the Voltage regulator conrolls.(which was NOT in the information)

WHO will take responsiblity for a CRASHED system?  I do this as a hobby, as Im retired and cant afford to replace the computer.(not anymore.)

    AND,

with 18 Bios updates/changes in about 1 year.  It really is abit strange, worrying.

Unless you are having problems that are resolved by a particular BIOS update, leave well alone.

It may well be that a given BIOS update addresses issues that do not apply in your particular setup.

Too many people feel they have to have the latest when they don't actually have an issue.

Some unfortunately do more harm than good!

I understand that. But the discription are to short. NEED more info. Would be nice if there were heat monitors in the bios. The first version, 1.02 is very basic. there are 18 updates in 1 year.. i want MORE info. on the changes..
