Problem installing Acer Aspire 7740 Graphics Driver

Hello,

I am having trouble installing the Acer Aspire 7740 graphics card. My hard drive crashed so I replaced it and reinstalled windows. At first I tried the Recovery CD created by Acer's program, but I got the error "Windows cannot configure windows on this hardware.". I figured I got this error because the replaced hard drive is not the same as the original one. I happened to have a spare hard drive i did not use, so..

Since the recovery CD did not work i installed a retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) and looked up the drivers at Acer
's website. After downloading both graphics card drivers, AMD & Intel, I tried to install them. The AMD video card driver installed without problems, but that had no effect at all. I am stuck with a 1024x768 resolution. When I tried to install the Intel driver I got an error which states I have insufficient hardware. So what should i do now?

I tried too look up which graphics card is installed in my computer, both on the internet and tools (CPU-Z & DXDiag). CPU-Z does not give me any information about the graphics card, which is odd because it is supposed to do so. From DXDiag i saw there was a Graphics Media Accelerator HD (Intel® GMA HD) installed.

So my questions:

  • Which driver should i install or why cant I install the official Acer drivers.

Thanks in advance,

Stephan

The Aspire 7740 should have an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD.

The Aspire 7740G will have the option of the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650.

The driver available on our site should install without an issue.

What devices do you have listed in Device Manager for video?

Device Manager does not specify any graphics card. It show 'Default PnP Monitor' (Free translated from Dutch).

DxDiag shows nothing except for the Intel Ironlake Mobile Graphics Chipset. I tried to install the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD driver, but it sais "This computer does not meet the required specifications for this software.".

    So what should I do?
