Hi, I bought Aspire E1-531 yesterday and came to know that it doesn't support virtualization feature, so I've decided to upgrade my processor. Please tell me if I can do that. If yes, the how? I want to upgrade it to some core 2 duo or i3 so that I can avail virtualization.

Another question is: My laptop has 4GB DDR3 RAM. I've installed Win 7. When I check the system properties it shows only 2.6 GB of RAM is available for use, why is that ?

Best Regards,

Sunny

    Sunny,

I understand that you are wishing to enable virtualization.

The processor does not support the virtualization feature and is not upgradable.

After installing Windows 7, you are seeing 2.6 GB of the 4 GB of RAM installed in the system.

Windows 7 x86 (32 bit) has an upper RAM limit of 4 GB.  This is often seen as 2.6 to 3.2 GB of available RAM.

Windows 7 x64 (64 bit) has an upper RAM limit of 8 GB, 16 GB, or 192 GB, depending on the OS version.

For more information, please see the Microsoft article, Memory Limits for Windows Releases (Windows)
