Hi everyone, my laptop (Acer Aspire 5541) worked well till this Sunday, I leave it in suspended mode, and in the morning - it doesn't bott anymore. I've disassembled it for 4-5 times, tryed different RAM on different slots, tryed external LCD, hold the power btn for 1-4 minutes pressed on couple of times, I downloaded fresh bios, but can't get it to update the bios, Fn+ESC - and power btn, after release power button - it doesn't blink like should on flashing BIOS. Now I tooked out the bios battery and solder it back, and tryed with all deatached only motherboard - still the same black screen, no logo, no press F2 message - noothing. Just power led is on, on the edge of notebook and under Power button, cooler spins for some seconds every 3-4 minutes, the CPU and GPU is getting warm (or hot), on the motherboard no scraps, nothing suspect... I'm confused. Please, help me to reanimate my laptop.

    Dear Acer technicians!

I have the same problem as stated in the post before.

If the BIOS is faulty, is it possible to flash the BIOS without any user interface?

The fn+ESC key combination seems to do something but since I don't get any response from my laptop I don't really know what I am doing.

It would be nice to get an answer since this seems not to be a single case.

    All the best!

    Hello,

I would also like some detailed instructions on how to flash the BIOS from a cold start.

Acer support have suggested I send it in for a service (out of warranty - at a cost...) or follow a KB article which assumes windows is working.

I'm having a 'Error sending end of post file to ME' followed by around 5 minutes of activity before it turns off. I want to rule out a BIOS problem. On a 5472Z.

    Any help mcuh appreciated.

First try reloading bios defaults by pressing DelKey immediately after powering on. Then wait a few moments and press the EnterKey to reload bios defaults and exit to the OS. If still a black screen, wait till after the OS loads signaled by the startup melody Then sequentially press WinKey+RightArrrowKey+EnterKey to shut Windows down  normally. Then  do a cold-reboot to see if the screen comes back. Report back with results.
