put in a new battery and can't get it to charge. do I need to update bios so that it will recognize

any trick to getting a new battery to charge.  it was suggested that i upgrade the bios to recognize a battery that wasn't oem.

    I can't imagine why a bios update would be necessary.

    First thing to do is to verify that you have installed the new battery correctly. Does the new battery have the same number of electrical contacts and in the same relative location as the old battery?

    Second, verify that your charger is in fact putting out the correct dc charging voltage.

    Hi,

    Please verify first that the AC adapter is good ( you can try another AC adapter)

    If the issue persist after trying another AC adapter so you can update the BIOS
