Webcam does not work

I installed win 8 on my acer aspire 5100 and the webcam does not function neither does the computer recognize it. I've looked for a driver on the Acer website support and none are listed. I figure there must be a driver out there since the 5100 runs win 8 just fine

Same question here: Installed Win 7 on Acer Aspire 5100 for a friend & downloaded the Vista driver for the Webcam, since Win7 is basically Win Vista improved it should work. The install instructions said a message would appear in the task bar when the device was recognized.  The software all installed but no message ever appeared in the task bar & when I try to open the webcam software it closes immediately.

The device manager doesn't show any hardware for the webcam either.   May have to pull the PC apart & see if it disconnected.  Not really interested in doing that since everything else is working very well but kinda of a shame not to have the webcam functioning since it's there.

Can't imagine Acer would put a webcam on the display with no asociated hardware in the PC?
