Vertical line on P215H ACER monitor. Is there a solution?

Hi!  This is the background information about the problem on my ACER 21" P215H monitor.

A cyan color vertical line of about one pixel in width is residing on the left side of the screen;  at about 6.5 cm (approx. 2 1/8") from the monitor edge.  The bottom part of the line intersects the bottom edge of the screen.  The top part of the line is about 2 cm (approx. 3/4") away from the top edge of the screen.  The mouse cursor occludes the line.  Except for the mouse cursor, the line is on top of all (so far) the images displayed on Windows.  The line turns red on a black background when booting the computer, until the light blue Windows Home screen is displayed.  The line is not evident on the Home Windows; same or similar color (?).

This line is on the monitor at all times.  Tried, unsuccessfully,  to correct the problem by re-starting the computer, by restarting the monitor, by changing the monitor configuration using the Acer eDisplay Management application, and by turning off the system for several hours.  This problem started on May 2, 2013.

Is it time to change the monitor, or is there a DIY solution?  Is there any troubleshooting to pinpoint the cause?

Thanks in advance.
