Why is there lag in the sound when I watch videos on my brand new Aspire V5 laptop??

When I watch videos, there is distortion in the sound and the video and sound becomes separate from each other.  It's funny the first time when you watch a door slam shut, then 5 seconds later, you hear it....  After that, it begins to p*ss you off.  If I pause the video, the sound and video match back up, but become separate again within seconds.  I'm not impressed that I have to watch a video by hitting the <space> bar every 20 seonds to correct the sound/video.

It's not a streaming issue.  The videos are loaded on my laptop and work fine with any other computer.

Try VideoLAN. It's excellent and it's free:

    Hi,

Please try other video application like VLC or REAL PLAYER .

If the issue persists please run a scan with your antivirus or with another good antivirus

    Awaiting your response.

I use VLC already.  The anti virus scan was negative.

The problem is more noticeable when I play movies on iTunes, but the other apps lag as well.  I'm wondering about a sound card or video card issue.

Check your CPU usage before and again while viewing a movie. Is it high?

Check running services for anything unusual.

Check whether you have other processes running.

Check Device Manager for driver problems.

    Check HDD/SSD for errors/problems.

Given your symptoms, I suspect your problem is software related rather than hardware.
