Aspire x3400 blue screen.

I have a Aspire x3400 with the following specs 

 

Windows 7 ultimate 64 (was home edition but upgraded when bluescreen started)

AMD Athlon II X3 2.9ghz

4 GB Kingston RAM (2 x 2gb)

1 TB HDD  SATA II

NVIDIA geforce 9200  up to 512mb dedicated memory

Direct x 10

Nvidia nforce networking controller

 

My problem is that i keep getting blue screen. often while playing online games such as facebook. but has randomly happened too.

I have checked the RAM HDD and updated the drivers. I have even added an externaly powered fan to help with heating but nothing works. 

 

I would be gratefull for any help and advice because im on the verge of reinstaling the bios!

The BCCode: 3b is typically graphics card related.

If you have updated the drivers for the NVIDIA, I would do another look around their site for possibly a newer version than what you got. Make sure to specify win7 64 bit in the drop downs.

Card might be failing. Might just be getting overwhelmed with modern demands, it is quite dated, Ive seen them selling online for 10-12 bucks. Easy enough to swap out.

Another thing that causes random bluescreens is a failing HD, however you state you have checked it out and the error code seems to indicate otherwise.

Google those error-codes if none of the above helps, lots of info available.
