recently my sleep/hibernate buttons have grayed out at start menu.  No longer will laptop go into sleep or hibernate.  Tried many solutions but noe have fixed the problem.  Suggestion is to upgrade Bios.  I checked and I have the original bios for Acer 5251 V1.04 4/23/210.

Ran    c:\windows\system32>powercfg -a   with following resulfs:
The following sleep states are not available on this system
Standby (S1)
an internal system conponent has been this standby state.
Standby (2)
the system firmware does not support this standby state.
an internal system conponent has been this standby state.
Standby (3)
an internal system conponent has been this standby state.
Hibernate
an internal system component has disabled hibernation
Hybrid Sleep
C:\windows\system32>an internal system conponent has been this standby state.

Do you think a bios update will fix.  If so how to I do this.  Is there a software to backup bios before doing update?

Would appreciate any help!!!!

did you update BIOS to change this?  no

roll back windows updates when this occur and see if restore functions

    this is not BIOS issue
