Windows 8 hiding & Acer desktop. Have blue screen 6 choices to fix Zero work to fix

I have an Acer desktop to which was given on a temporary basis MacaFee AV trial.

Then it came due to shut down the AV

So, I downloaded "Avira free" as it works just fine on my XP machine and proves to be no hassle.

.   I figured I was doing everything right, but Avira "Loaded strangely"(download was from your website and that was complete)

.   Now first off I did not sign on as administrator...I could not figure out how to do that. On my XP machine, I am administrator. So first difference.

.   Acts different, in that I must press the remove button for any virus it finds and it seems to find the same one without removing it.

.I would tell you which one except I managed to crash Windows 8.   It has in it MacaFee, Avira, and then Avast trial.

.Now I got a blue screen (just sky blue and it gives me 6 choices of restoring it without losing all my files/ Restoring it and it will erase files or shut down the computer (there were 6 choices but cannot remember the other 3 at this moment.

I believe I have 4 separate installs of Windows 8 (or one Windows and 4 Windows 8 group4 titles).  I have  4 email addresses but everything is forwarded to one which I visit the most which is a "Hotmail address"  None come to me directly.

So far I have been the chicken and done the Restore and keep all my files.  I have nothing on the computer except the original install plus Firefox 32 bit and Firefox 64bit.     I do not do games.

or the Repair and keep all the files.

Anyways, it is gonna cost me 200 dollars just to take it to a tech to make it go again..

So far that is an additional $275 since Christmas.

Where can I go or who do I ask about this problem.?  Only been on pc since 96

Right now I am using my XP machine to write this.
